Slow Food Clare is delighted to invite you to attend our next Event:
Tasting Irish Heritage

Monday 7th July from 6pm to 10pm, Caherconnell Stone Fort & Visitor Centre
The evening includes: audio-visual display of the Burren, a guided tour of the ringfort with report and artefacts from recent excavations and a six Course Meal served family style!
Also, sixteen Students from the University of Gastronomic Sciences, Italy (founded by Slow Food) are sharing in the event.

Important News for Small Producers from The Artisan Forum
Are you starting out as an Artisan Meat or Dairy producer?
Are you an existing producer who needs help sorting out technical problems or wading through your legal obligations?
If so, help is at hand.
Two dedicated Food Technologists have been appointed by Teagasc to support this important growing sector.
The Artisan Technologist for meat and meat products is Carol Griffin. She is based at Ashtown Food Research Centre and can be contacted at:

Sara McSweeney is based in Moorepark Food Research Centre and works with the artisan/speciality producers of milk based products such as cheese, yogurt and butter.

During the 5th Slow Food Congress in Puebla Mexico... Representatives of the Tabasco Region Convivium told the story of the devastating flooding in their region, harvests spoilt, crops and homes lost.

Kate Carmody, Convivium Leader in Kerry Region, brought home to the IOFGA AGM the stories of these Organic Farmers.
The response from the Membership of IOFGA is seen below, a cheque for €1,000 has been donated to Slow Food Ireland for the Hermosa Tabasco Farmers.

UCC Diploma - Rescheduled (news updated 2nd June 2007)
UCC DIPLOMA IN SPECIALITY FOOD PRODUCTION
UCC have now rescheduled the Diploma in Speciality Food Production.

The course format has changed to a part-time basis which will run throughout the academic year 2007/2008. It will commence on the 10th September 2007 with one full week session and two day sessions every three weeks thereafter.

UCC would also like to to thank all applicants for their continued support for the Diploma and look forward to the future development of this important national initiative.
